3 Root Mean Square (RMS) Value

Measures how well the calibration feature location detected in the image correlates with its expected location, based on the calibration position coordinates. A lower value indicates a better calibration result.

A high RMS value may indicate that:

  • Your image may contain lens distortion
  • Your image may contain perspective distortion
  • Your robot or motion stage may have motion error
  • The feature may not be stable

If you receive a high RMS value, you may be able to reduce the RMS value by checking the above elements.
